Three Rivers Bioneers: Southwestern Pennsylvania's Solutions-Based Conference

Mission

The mission of Three Rivers Bioneers (3RB) is to foster a local movement of citizens and organizations who strive to cultivate sustainable communities in the Three Rivers BioRegion through actions revolving around social justice, ecological health and innovative solutions.

Structure

Three Rivers Bioneers' relationships to its partner and supporting organizations parallels the connections it strives to create in its content; it is the nexus of Bioneers based out of New Mexico, the Urban Ecology Collaborative (UEC) based out of the East Coast, and the UEC's local partner organizations in Pittsburgh. 

3RB is a project of the Urban Ecology Collaborative.  The UEC is the umbrella organization encompassing many different initiatives in several cities, one of which is 3RB.

3RB is a partner of Bioneers.  Launched in 2002, Beaming Bioneers provides access to the restorative solutions and stories of the Bioneers, while providing a platform for local networking and organizing. Beaming Bioneers sites are found in community and civic centers, local colleges, and universities.

History

Volunteers of the Urban Ecology Collaborative had a dream of bringing a Bioneers conference to the Pittsburgh region and set the wheels in motion to make it a reality in 2008.  With the generous support of the Sprout Fund and a grant from Beulah Land, Three Rivers Bioneers hired two part time coordinators and is amassing a strong base of volunteers to plan the first Beaming Bioneers Conference in the area in 2009.  Join us in making Three Rivers Bioneers an annual event!
