Three Rivers Bioneers: Connect. Discover. Celebrate

Three Rivers Bioneers (3RB) is the Beaming Bioneers conference partner based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  The mission of 3RB is to foster a local movement of citizens and organizations who strive to cultivate sustainable communities in the Three Rivers Bioregion through actions revolving around social justice, ecological health, and innovative solutions.

Mondays are for Bioneers

3 Rivers Bioneers Warm-up Events are monthly events showcasing a local organization engaging in the many facets of Bioneers.  Learn about the solutions local groups are developing to address issues of national scale; watch a screening of a Bioneers speaker to learn what Bioneers is all about.  Enjoy refreshments from local restaurants and meet others interested in the vision of Bioneers.

In 2009, folks were introduced to such organizations and individuals like Carlos Gasca of Startup!, met up at Conservation Consultants on the South Side to hear about the ecological design work of Seeds and recent innovations in stormwater management, attended a screening of Taking Root: A Tale of Wangari Maathai, and other informative, community-building events (See the "Past Events" tab under Warm-Up Events for the complete list).

In 2010, Bioneers focused much of its attention on getting Pittsburgh youth more aware and involved in ecological and social justice issues. Warm Up Events in the months leading up to the October conference were sponsored by Urban Youth Action, Allegheny Cleanways, Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest, the Student Conservation Association, the Kingsley Association, and Artists Image Resource to name a few. Join Us!

2011 saw us continuing to focus attention on cultivating Pittsburgh youth, address issues regarding the inter-connectedness of ecology, economy, and society, and speaking about the growing Global Commons movement - and taking back involvement with how local, regional, national, and international policy is determined with regard to natural resources, health, and well-being. We were proud to be asked to contribute to the 1st ever Three Rivers Community Foundation's Building Change: A Convergence for Social Justice
